16 Player Party Chats Coming with New PS4 Firmware Update

If you have been longing for larger party sizes on PS4, you probably were excited to hear that support for up to 16 players was under development. And now, it is becoming a reality. The newest PS4 firmware update is bringing 16 player party chats. Want to be among the first to experience this brand new feature? We’ll tell you how.

16 Player Party Chats Are Now in Beta

The original announcement about the larger party size came more than a week back. In the past, the maximum number of players which could participate in a party chat was 8. Needless to say, that was very restricting. Now, it will be possible to double your party size over the previous maximum with 16 players in all.

You can have 16 player party chats with the new PS4 firmware update.

Before Sony is willing to roll out the feature for everyone, the company needs to conduct some tests. If you want to participate, you just need to sign up. Follow this link to do so. The minimum age is 18, and you need an adult account. By filling in your details, you will be joining the PlayStation Preview Program. You must input your first and last name, the email and online ID linked to your PSN account, your country and your DOB. Then just check the boxes.

Signing up does not guarantee that you will be able to participate in the test for 16 player party chats. But it does make you potentially eligible. If Sony selects you for the beta, you will receive an email at the address you supplied which will include a code. So with that code, you will be able to download the firmware update. You will then be able to test out the new feature.

But actually, support for 16 players in party chats is just one of the improvements the beta will bring. You can also expect improvements to network connectivity. You also should notice that the quality for audio during voice chat has increased.

This is an exciting opportunity to experience party chat for 16 players before it is available to the public. So visit the link and sign up. But don’t forget to tell your friends to sign up too! That way, you can check out the feature together. Keep an eye on our PlayStation news to find out when the firmware update goes live for everyone. And be sure and take advantage of the Days of Play sale, which is still ongoing through June 17th!
