Ubisoft Announces Sports Party, Looks to Be a Switch-Exclusive Wii Sports Successor

Ubisoft has announced Sports Party, a Nintendo Switch-exclusive sports game that looks to be a Wii Sports successor. The sports game is packed with six outdoor sports that can be played with friends in local cooperative play. The game will be releasing on October 30, 2018. The six outdoor sports available in the game are frisbee, jet ski, basketball, golf, skateboarding, and tennis.

According to Gematsu, although Sports Party shares the same name as the 2008 Nintendo Wii game, this looks to be a brand new title entirely. The beach meets the mountain in these six different sports that users can play from hitting targets with your frisbee to racing jet skis to challenging friends and family to see who can win on the nine different golf tracks.

Sports Party will include a robust set of features in addition to the sports themselves. Avatars are entirely customizable, allowing you to change skin color, hair type, accessories, clothing, and more to fit your style. It will have accessible controls so that anyone from young to old will be able to enjoy the fun. The trailer showcases motion controls while the press release notes that handheld mode is also available with classic button controls.

Lastly, there is a Championship Mode in Sports Party where a player is randomly chosen each round to pick what the next sport will be in the competition. Further details weren’t given on how deep each sport will be, such as how many race tracks for the jet ski sport and so on.

Additionally, no mention of online multiplayer is in the initial announcement so we will have to wait and see if that will be included in Sports Party. The release date isn’t too far away, though, as it releases on October 30. In the meantime, check out other sports titles like FIFA 19 and Madden NFL 19.
