It looks like Anthem is reportedly bricking PS4 consoles. In addition, it is causing other massive issues for users around the world. Oddly enough, these issues seem to be currently only on PS4 and not PC or Xbox One. Users are reporting around the globe that the recently released game is causing these detrimental issues for them plus the usual bugs.
This report comes from a thread that Reddit user Forthemasters started. The thread is currently massive, having more than one thousand, five hundred upvotes on Reddit and more than 500 comments. The thread has the title “this is the only game that causes a complete PS4 shutdown”. The user details in the initial post that twice now they have had their PS4 shut down because of Anthem.
This isn’t your typical game crash but literally, the entire console turns off. This is rather unheard of for a game to cause but many users are reporting this. The problem doesn’t end there, though. There are even some users who are reporting that they are dealing with Anthem bricking PS4 consoles. As in, making the console not work anymore.
While we don’t have confirmation yet that Anthem is really bricking PS4 consoles, we do have more evidence that backs this up. As we reported earlier today, Sony is giving full refunds for Anthem right now. These refunds reportedly are really easy to get and only take around five minutes to do. You can supposedly still get one right now.
This certainly points to Sony knowing that the game is bricking PS4 consoles and is offering refunds to avoid this. Regardless of the reason, there are still users who are dealing with this.
