Apex Legends Ranked Series 2 Starts on the 1st of October

Apex Legends Season 2 will be coming to an end in just over one week’s time. At its conclusion, Season 3 will be launching almost immediately, on the 1st of October. Although details about Season 3 are currently scarce, Respawn has now confirmed that the Apex Legends Ranked Series 2 will be launching on the same day. This wasn’t a guarantee, as Respawn have previously said that Season and Series launches may not align. In any case, Series 2 is bringing a variety of changes based on feedback from the first Ranked Series.

What’s Different in Apex Legends Ranked Series 2?

When Apex Legends Ranked Series 2 kicks off on the 1st of October, there will be a variety of changes. As players might well expect, this will include a partial reset of player ranks. However, it won’t be a complete reset. According to Respawn, this will be a “soft reset of your rank,” and it will come along with cosmetic rewards. These will differ depending on your rank in the first series. More specifically, players will go roughly 1.5 tiers down. While the scoring system will mostly be the same in Series 2, there will be a few improvements. (Not to mention the addition of a Loss Forgiveness system.)

Apex Legends Ranked Series 2 Details 2

According to Respawn, the developers are currently quite happy with the scoring mechanics in Apex Legends’ Ranked Series. “The system was easily understood by new and veteran players alike, and gave us a good baseline calibration of skill for future series,” they explain. In fact, they provided a breakdown of the player distribution among players who played more than 5 hours of Ranked. 5.1% of players are rank Bronze, 40% are Silver, 35.7% are Gold, and 16.8% are Platinum. Finally, 2.1% are Diamond and a tiny 0.2% are Apex Predator.

Tiers and Divisions will be the same as in Series 2, as will the Ranked level requirement. However, one change that is coming to scoring is that all scores will multiply by 10, in order to provide Respawn with greater flexibility. i.e., instead of gaining 1 RP or 2 RP, they can now grant 10, 15, or 20. The RP cost to enter matches is also increasing slightly. Bronze will remain free, of course. Meanwhile, the costs will become as follows; Silver 12, Gold 24, Platinum 36, Diamond 48, Apex Predator 60. You can find more specific details about the changes to scoring and other systems in Series 2 in an update post on the game’s official website.
