The addition of the Shipment map to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, in a recent update, was one of the game’s most highly-anticipated post-launch releases. Of course, many fans will no doubt be happy to see the classic map make its return. However, it appears that some players have already discovered a potentially game-breaking exploit. This exploit, which allows players to gain extremely fast access to Modern Warfare nukes, seems to be rooted in issues with the map’s spawn positioning.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Shipment Exploit
Shipment is, of course, a very small map. Indeed, the map is so small that in addition to featuring in 6v6 multiplayer, it also features in Gunfight. However, it seems that this small size is problematic when it comes to the placement of spawn points. As Reddit user GalacticBanana15 recently demonstrated, these spawn placements often cause players to spawn directly into enemy fire. This allows well-placed players to rack up kills far faster than normal.

Indeed, GalacticBanana15 was able to score two Nuclear medals, awarded for a 30-kill killstreak, in just 40 and 41 seconds. (Averaging almost 1 kill every second.) They were able to achieve this by camping in a particular spot on Shipment which afforded them a sight-line of the enemy spawn positions. Of course, this may be a problem with Modern Warfare’s spawn mechanics overall. However, the problem is clearly exacerbated by Shipment’s small size and specific layout.
Given how easy this is to abuse, it seems likely Infinity Ward will have to make some tweaks in future. However, it’s not totally clear what they’ll be able to do to fix it completely. At the end of the day, there may always be something of a risk of this sort of thing on maps as small as Shipment. Hopefully, however, Infinity Ward can do at least a few things to mitigate the issue for players. Especially before it drives people away from what should have been one of the most popular new maps.
