Activision Unveil New Signature Weapon System In Black Ops 4

Though Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 will launch sans a traditional single-player campaign, dedicated players can still look forward to a number of new additions, such as a more fully fleshed out zombies mode (which will now include offline friendly bots!), a newly implemented 100-player Battle Royale mode dubbed Blackout, and even a Specialist Story Mode. We can also now add Signature Weapon Types to the ever-growing list of features for the much anticipated upcoming military shooter.

“Signature Weapons are the most badass looking weapons in Black Ops 4, and a badge of honor for the battle-hardened players that have invested the time to achieve the Mastercraft versions.” wrote Activision’s editorial manager Kevin Kelly in a recent blog post.

Essentially, the Signature Weapons system will be a way for players to unlock snazzy new cosmetic skins for their weapons of choice. Thankfully, these new unlocks will solely change the way the base weapon looks and won’t affect any of the under-the-hood stats, so you won’t be gaining any unfair advantages on the battlefield.

To unlock the new cosmetic skins for each weapon, challenges must be completed and a significant amount of time must be invested into the game. Some of the more unique Signature Weapons skins are even tied to many of the special editions of Black Ops 4. In the US, retailer GameStop is offering a pre-order bonus which is a Strife Pistol called Divinity. You can check out what it looks like below:

For those fans who’ve played the previous Call Of Duty titles, the system sounds similar to the approach Activision has taken in many of its past instalments. That being said, if you’re a sucker for brand-new shiny skins for your weapons of choice, then Black Ops 4’s newly announced Signature Weapons system will give you an extra reason to invest more time into the game’s addictive multiplayer suite, which can only be a good thing!

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches on October 12th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Stay tuned, as we’ll be sure to keep you updated as more intel drops.
