Sony described the new product in its blog, stating, “Its sleek design, with two programmable and highly tactile back buttons, allows you to utilize more of your hand to shorten your response time and gives you more flexibility in competitive gameplay … The two back buttons can map up to 16 different actions such as triangle, circle, R1 and R2 to name a few and provide amazing tactile feedback, so you can jump and slide without missing a beat.”
Also, what is awesome about Sony developing this product is that it is built specifically with PS4 and PS VR games in mind. It is also an ideal ergonomic fit for the PlayStation 4 controller.
Alas, the Back Button Attachment is not coming out in time for the holiday season. It will be available to purchase on January 23rd, 2020 in the United States and Canada. The SRP is $29.99 USD and $39.99 CAD. But there is no mention yet about the availability of the attachment in other regions.
So, if anyone sends you money as a holiday gift, make sure you set aside at least $29.99 USD so that you will have it ready to spend on the Back Button Attachment in January.
