New Apex Legends Aftermarket Collection Event is Now Live

The latest Collection event to run in the current season of Apex Legends, Aftermarket is now live, bringing with it a new game mode, a wealth of new cosmetics, and perhaps most importantly, the game’s first-ever cross-play beta! The event is due to last two weeks, ending on the 20th of October.

The Apex Legends Aftermarket Collection Event

In most areas, the Apex Legends Aftermarket Collection Event is much like previous Collection Events. The event features a collection of 24 new event cosmetics, which are available through Event Packs or direct purchase, as well as an exclusive event reward track, featuring daily challenges. However, there are two big features which help Aftermarket to stand out compared to past events. The first of these is Flashpoint.

This new limited-time game mode will only be available during the Aftermarket Collection Event. In this mode, players won’t find healing items anywhere on the map, but they can instead restore health and shields within special ‘Flashpoints’. These globe-shaped zones will appear around the map periodically, likely prompting a rush of players to that location. According to Respawn, these zones are meant to emulate the feel of a Team Deathmatch mode, as players clash over a much smaller area with active health regeneration. The mode also uses the rules of Always Be Closing, meaning that the circle never stops shrinking. Eventually, it shrinks all the way down to a final Flashpoint.

Apex Legends Aftermarket Collection Event Now Live 2

The other big feature of the Apex Legends Aftermarket event is the Cross-Play Beta. Cross-play has long been one of Apex Legends’ most-requested features, and at long last, it’s coming to the game. Enabled by default during the beta, cross-play is available on Xbox, PlayStation, and Origin. Presumably, this beta is a prelude to the feature coming to the game fully very soon. Notably, the game will not feature cross-progression, but Respawn is working on adding this feature too. According to the studio, fans should expect to hear more about it around the time of the game’s Steam release.
