Apex Legends Season 6 is now just a couple of days away, and following the release of details about the upcoming map changes, Respawn has now released a new character trailer focusing on Rampart. In fact, the studio has now released details of how all of Rampart’s different abilities will work when she becomes playable on the 18th of August.
Apex Legends Season 6: Rampart Abilities
“Rampart is a blue-collar, private business owner who just needs a big gun and a backpack full of scrap metal to get by in the dangerous, wild west world of the Outlands,” writes Respawn; “Before opening her popular modding shop on Gaea, Ramya Parekh (Rampart for short) made a name for herself in the underground gauntlet circuit.”
Rampart’s first ability in Apex Legends Season 6 is her Tactical ability, Amped Cover. When activated, this allows her to quickly construct a wall which can provide cover. The top half of the wall, which appears as a transparent energy field, is ‘amped’. This means that while it blocks incoming projectiles on the outer side, it does nothing to block outgoing shots, and actually boosts those shots to deal more damage. As such, the wall isn’t merely defensive, but also serves to boost Rampart and her teammates’ shooting.
Rampart’s passive ability, on the other hand, is Modded Loader. This ability allows her to reload LMGs and her own Minigun (see below) faster. Plus, it also boosts the magazine capacity of any LMG she wields, as well as the Minigun when she’s using it. As you can see, Modded Loader has great synergy with her Ultimate; the Emplaced Minigun otherwise known as “Sheila”. When activated, Rampart sets down a minigun turret which any player can use. It has very high ammo capacity, allowing her team to rain devastating fire from its position. The turret can’t move, however, and it does have a very slow reload.
