Over the course of the last week, Respawn has been running a huge Twitter poll tournament called ‘Map Madness’. For each bracket, fans of the game were asked to vote for their favourite Apex Legends drop zone in King’s Canyon; Artillery vs. Relay, Bunker vs. Airbase, and so on. The tournament finally came to an end yesterday, with the Apex Legends Skull Town drop zone coming out on top. More than 1,000,000 votes were cast over the course of the Map Madness tournament!

Apex Legends Skull Town Wins Huge Twitter Poll Tournament
Over the course of the Map Madness tournament, the Apex Legends Skull Town drop zone overcame Market, Artillery, and Bunker to claim victory. As such, it is now officially the most popular Apex Legends drop zone location among players. In each of these polls, Skull Town came out victorious with a huge lead. 77% of voters supported it over Market, while 69% voted for it over Artillery. In the final poll, 67% of votes voted for Skull Town, while just 33% preferred Bunker.
Skull Town is one of seventeen different drop zones in King’s Canyon, currently the only map in Apex Legends. Among the different locations, some sites have higher or lower loot tiers which govern the sorts of items which will spawn there. Skull Town falls right in the middle of the tiers, with relatively average loot. However, Skull Town has other benefits, especially when it comes to manoeuvrability. Zip lines connect the drop zone to other map areas, for example, and it features plenty of multi-storey buildings.
It’s currently unknown whether Respawn is planning to bring new maps to Apex Legends at any point. Maps of this huge size certainly take a lot of time to design and construct, so it’s unlikely fans will see a new map anytime soon. Certainly, given how much Apex Legends’ popularity has exploded since launch, the studio has plenty of other more immediate concerns, such as countering hackers, etc. However, it seems likely that there will eventually be new Apex Legends maps, especially if the game’s popularity proves to be persistent.
