Battlefield 5 Elites: Ilse Schattenwolf is Now Available

Two months after the release of the last pair of Battlefield 5 Elites, DICE has now released two more for players to acquire; Ilse Schattenwolf for the Axis forces and Norman Kingsley for the Allies. The former, Ilse, is a terrifying killer and psychological warfare specialist who features a brutal signature melee weapon.

Battlefield 5 Elites – Ilse Schattenwolf

“Quick. Precise. Always on mission. Ilse is a counter-espionage operative,” explains DICE; “trained in psychological warfare and immensely adept in urban and rural combat zones. Some anti-social tendencies aside, squad mates admire her abilities to strike fear into the enemy.”

Ilse Schattenwolf is the new Axis Elite available for players in Battlefield 5. Thus far, only six Battlefield 5 Elites have been released, following the introduction of Battlefield Currency some months ago. Players can purchase Elites with this currency, and they will then become available to play in both the regular multiplayer modes and Firestorm. Of course, there is no actual tangible gameplay advantage to playing an Elite. For all intents and purposes, the Elites are particularly unique cosmetic skins. Each one features their own unique voice lines and Best Squad animation. Plus, each has a Special Assignment to complete, and doing so will unlock a special ‘Signature Melee Weapon.’

In Ilse’s case, her signature melee weapon is a Pickaxe; the same weapon which she wields in her character trailer. She is the third Axis Elite to become available, and the first female character among them. The previous Axis Elites were Ernst Schubert and Wilhelm Tannstedt, the latter of whom became available at the end of May. He was originally released as “Wilhelm Franke,” but the name was changed by DICE after it emerged that it was the name of an actual anti-fascist resistance fighter arrested by the Gestapo in 1944. Ilse does seem to continue a pattern of the Axis Elites having almost over-the-top villainous designs, while the Allied Elites have been slightly more realistic. It’s currently unknown if/when DICE plans to bring more Elites to the game.
