Battlefield V Will Launch With Two Different Playable Factions
DICE has announced that there will be two playable factions when Battlefield V launches this year, which was just revealed ahead of the game’s appearance at Saturday’s upcoming EA Play. You’ll get to choose between British and German forces at launch, but if you want to hop in the battle as Americans, you’ll be left waiting some time. This is true to the way the war actually played out, especially since the United States wasn’t a part of World War II until later on.
But that’s not a big deal, because we know there’s more content coming later on, and your ragtag bunch of soldiers will be constantly evolving as you play through the game. You’ll have four classes: the Scout, Medic, Support, and Assault, to choose from as you make your way through, with the core Battlefield rock-paper-scissors gameplay in full force so that one faction doesn’t have an advantage over the other.
Additionally, the Tides of War post-release content plan will see that the game gets its share of narrative additions with new stories every few months, focusing around a different aspect of the time period and beginning with the Fall of Europe. That’s where you’ll see new factions added to the game while extra chapters are made available. Unfortunately, we don’t know a lot about which ones, in particular, will be added just yet.
We’ve still got a ways to when it comes to how long it’s going to take to get Battlefield V in our hands, as it’s currently scheduled for an October 19 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC debut.
