Bethesda Announces Doom Eternal at E3 2018

When Bethesda took the stage at E3 2018, the developers of Doom announced Doom Eternal as the next sequel of the Doom franchise. Although we did not learn much about its story, we got an exciting teaser and some hints, which helps us imagine some possible scenarios.

After the release of the Doom reboot back in 2016, it proved to be a popular re-envisioning of the series filled with the original fast-paced combat. Because of its success, it even spawned a VR release through Doom VFR in 2017.

The expected Doom Eternal will be a sequel to this Doom reboot of 2016 but instead of taking place on the planet Mars, it might bring the demons and the bloody fights to Earth. This is of course one of our theories after watching the teaser trailer and hearing the developers hinting at “hell on Earth”. This has been, in fact, the most popular guess considering what the fans have been wanting to see since the 2016 reboot came out.

Unfortunately, there was not any gameplay footage, but we can guess that it will be much in line with the FPS play featured throughout the franchise. However, we did get a fiery teaser trailer, which showed a kind of a hellish version of Earth filled with monsters. The landscape in the teaser seems like it comes from the outskirts of a city, which is completely ruined and filled with skeletons and some very alive and scary monsters.

The most exciting information we got from the developers was the fact that there will be twice as many demons in Doom Eternal, and the Doom Slayer will be even more powerful. Bethesda stated that they will make more announcements regarding Doom Eternal at QuakeCon, which will take place in Dallas in August. There we are also hoping to learn about the release date as well, which is currently unknown.
