Borderlands 3 Loot the Universe Event is Now Active on Nekrotafeyo
Throughout the month of May, two different events have been active in Borderlands 3. Revenge of the Cartels is, of course, the primary one; the game’s second-ever seasonal event which will remain active until the first week of June. However, Gearbox has also been running a secondary event called Loot the Universe. As of today, that event is into its final week, and offering players bonus loot on Nekrotafeyo.

Each week during Loot the Universe’s four-week duration, the event has been active on a different world, starting with Pandora. Now, after last week’s stint on Eden-6, Loot the Universe is now live on Nekrotafeyo. The event will be active until 9:00 AM PT on the 21st of May, when Loot the Universe will come to an end.
While Loot the Universe is active on Nekrotafeyo, the planet becomes, in the words of Gearbox; “a proverbial gold mine of loot”. What this means in practice is that the chances of Legendary gear dropping on the planet are greatly increased. However, the effects of the event are a little more specific than this. In every region of Nekrotafeyo, players are now more likely to find Legendary gear, but the exact type of gear is specific to each region. For instance, you might be more likely to find Legendary SMGs in the Echelon Reef, or Legendary Shields in Desolation’s Edge. Gearbox doesn’t release details on which regions drop which kind of loot, so it’s up to players to discover for themselves.
It’s currently unknown what, if anything, Gearbox will replace Loot the Universe with when the event ends. Prior to Loot the Universe, the studio ran a series of weekly mini-events throughout April. Loot the Universe follows a similar structure to those events, but with a more standardised format. With Revenge of the Cartels ending just a couple of weeks later, it seems likely that Gearbox will want to launch some new event to keep players engaged week by week.
