The Borderlands Legendary Collection is Coming to Switch This May

Following the release of their most recent story DLC for Borderlands 3, Gearbox has announced their next upcoming release; the studio plans to launch their Borderlands Legendary Collection on the Nintendo Switch. The collection, which includes the first three Borderlands games and all of their DLC add-ons, will be launching on the platform in a couple of months’ time.

When the Borderlands Legendary Collection Comes to the Switch

According to Gearbox, the Borderlands Legendary Collection will launch on the Nintendo Switch on the 29th of May, later this year. The announcement was made during the most recent Nintendo Direct, which coincided nicely with the recent launch of Guns, Love, and Tentacles, the second big Borderlands 3 story DLC. This upcoming release will be the first time that a Borderlands game has ever been available on a Nintendo console. Although the collection doesn’t include Borderlands 3, it does include the entire rest of the franchise. Specifically, the content included in the collection is as follows:

  • Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition
    • The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned
    • Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot
    • The Secret Armoury of General Knoxx
    • Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution
  • Borderlands 2
    • Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty
    • Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage
    • Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt
    • Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep
    • Mechromancer Pack
    • Psycho Pack
  • Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
    • Claptastic Voyage
    • The Holodome Onslaught
    • Baroness Pack
    • Handsome Jack Doppelganger Pack
Borderlands Legendary Collection Coming to Switch 2

Just like their editions on other platforms, all three of the games in the Legendary Collection will be playable with up to four-player co-op. Plus, while Switch users will be able to play cooperatively with up to four players online, they will also be able to play with two-player split screen in both docked and handheld mode. All of the games also feature new motion controls designed for the Switch; according to Gearbox, these will allow players to “line up headshots,” by tilting their Switch controller. All of this will be available once the collection goes live on the 29th of May.
