New Call of Duty Zombies Outbreak Survival Mode Now Available

Alongside the launch of the new “The Numbers” special event in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Treyarch has also launched a new limited-time mode for Zombies; Outbreak Survival. This new mode variant of Outbreak aims to provide a greater challenge for players, removing health regen and HUD maps, among other things.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – Outbreak Survival

“Ready for a more hardcore Zombies experience?” writes Treyarch; “See if you’ve got what it takes in the all-new Outbreak Survival, now live during The Numbers Event in Black Ops Cold War. […] It’s time to put your survival skills to the ultimate test. How long can you last?”

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies Outbreak Survival

The limited-time Outbreak Survival game mode is now available to play. Most likely, it will disappear with the end of The Numbers event on the 5th of October, giving players two weeks to try it out. In Outbreak Survival, players spawn into the mode with only one weapon; a single 1911 pistol. Additionally, their HUD mini-map will be disabled, with other HUD elements removed too. Players will be unable to Apply Blueprints, as they normally could, and importantly, health regeneration is disabled. With no automatic health regeneration, players must instead eat food to regain health.

While this mode is playable in-game, players can also complete new challenges as part of The Numbers event. A set of nine challenges is available in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. Completing either set of nine challenges will let players unlock the new Sai melee weapon; the first-ever melee weapon to feature as an event reward.

The Outbreak Survival mode also arrives alongside a general update for Black Ops Cold War, featuring improvements for in-game stability and gameplay. Bug-fixes in the patch prevent weapon duplication and Custom Mod problems when using the Apply Blueprint feature in Zombies.
