Call of Duty 2019 Won’t Share The Black Ops 4 Policy, Campaign Hinted

The fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won’t feature a classic campaign has been a major let-down for single player enthusiasts of the franchise. Previous titles have benn famous for their intense single player content, something that is still important to developers, as a hint from Infinity Ward suggests the release of a campain for Call of Duty 2019.

A recent job listing from Infinity Ward indicates the existence of a campaign – or something narrative related – in Call of Duty 2019. The developer of the next title in the franchise is looking for a “Narrative Scripter” with a “strong interest in First Person Shooter (FPS) Games and a “broad understanding of both multiplayer and single player game design”. If that doesn’t look like a new Call of Duty title, I don’t know what is.

The listing itself doesn’t confirm the existense of a campaign in Call of Duty 2019 but merely hints it. Founded in 2002, Infinity Ward is the original studio behind the Call of Duty franchise. The studio has worked on and released the first four Call of Duty titles, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Ghosts, with success in the past.

As for the game’s name, a report from Gaming INTEL leaked that it will most likely be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The report states:

“One of Gaming INTEL’s exclusive sources has said that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 will be the next title, by Infinity Ward, to release in 2019.

Our sources stated that Call of Duty would release as a “fully fledged” Call of Duty title, with a campaign that is already being worked on, the customary Call of Duty Multiplayer experience and the return of its Zombies mode.”

If Call of Duty 2018 is actually Modern Warfare 4 and if it will contain a classic single player campaign, it remains to be seen. We expect the first teases and hints about it to emerge a little while after the release of Black Ops 4 in October.
