Call of Duty Black Ops 4: Blood of the Dead Zombies Map Gets a Surprisingly Somber Trailer

When Call of Duty Black Ops 4 launches tomorrow, it will contain three distinct Zombies maps. Two of the maps will be entirely original, but the third will pay homage to a classic Zombies experience. The Blood of the Dead map will take players to a zombie-infested version of the infamous Alcatraz Prison. Fans can get a glimpse of Blood of the Dead’s Alcatraz setting via the latest trailer for Black Ops 4.

Black Ops 4's Blood of the Dead map has received its own somber trailer.

Black Ops 4 Blood of the Dead Story Trailer

Alcatraz Prison was also the setting for Black Ops 2’s beloved Mob of the Dead map. Judging from the surprisingly somber trailer, Blood of the Dead’s Alcatraz will be no less grim or bloody. Unlike Mob of the Dead, Blood of the Dead stars the classic Zombies crew of Dempsey, Richtofen, Nikolai, and Takeo. As the trailer shows, there will be plenty of story moments woven into the map’s DNA. However, it’s not clear whether such moments will be conveyed via cinematics or happen in real-time during gameplay.

Snippets of gameplay can be seen in the trailer as well, showing off gunplay and the use of deadly traps. Little is known about Blood of the Dead’s story and the trailer doesn’t do much to fill in the gaps. What is known is that the crew is trying to reach a hidden laboratory underneath the prison. The original Zombie crew’s goal has always been to “secure a better tomorrow,” no matter the cost. However, judging from what the trailer shows, the cost may be too high this time around.

Along with Blood of the Dead, Black Ops 4 will ship with the Voyage of Despair and IX Zombies maps. A fourth map, titled Classified, can also be played by those who own the Black Ops Pass. Four additional maps will become available to Black Ops Pass Owners post-launch. In other Zombies news, Treyarch has taken steps to ensure the easter egg race is fair for all.
