Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Pre-Order Guide

Earlier today, Activision released the first official trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the long-awaited next installment of the Black Ops franchise. With the game’s release date set for the 13th of November, it is now available for pre-order. Moreover, gamers who pre-order will get early access to an upcoming Open Beta. All told, there are three versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War available to pre-order:

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – Standard Edition

The first, and cheapest, of the three available editions is, of course, the Standard Edition. Retailing for $59.99, the Standard Edition is for current-gen consoles and includes early access to the upcoming Open Beta. Note that it will be playable on next-gen consoles via backwards compatibility, but won’t include the next-gen upgrades included with the ‘Cross-Gen Bundle’ below. Players will also get the Confrontation Weapons Pack with any pre-order of the Standard Edition.

In addition to all of that, pre-ordering the game will get you immediate access to Frank Woods as a playable Operator in both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, as well as an assault rifle Weapon Blueprint.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – Cross-Gen Bundle

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – Cross-Gen Bundle retails for $69.99 – $10 more than the Standard Edition. You won’t get any extra content or anything like that with this bundle. However, you will get an upgrade to the next-gen version of the game when it launches. Presumably, that upgrade will be a significant graphical improvement over the current-gen version. Any version of the game will be playable on next-gen consoles via backwards compatibility. However, the actual next-gen release of Black Ops Cold War will have improvements that the base game will lack.

It’s currently unknown when exactly this next-gen version will release, as it will be sometime after the November 13th release date. As such, fans who want to play the game on next-gen consoles but don’t want to wait should probably consider paying a little extra for the Cross-Gen Bundle.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – Ultimate Edition

The most expensive version of Black Ops Cold War is the Ultimate Edition, retailing for $89.99. Just like the Standard Edition, pre-ordering this version will get you early access to the Open Beta, as well as the Operator and Weapon Blueprint straight away for use in Modern Warfare and Warzone. It’s important to note too that the Ultimate Edition also includes the Cross-Gen Bundle – you’ll be able to upgrade to the next-gen version of the game when it launches without needing to pay extra.

Alongside all that, the Ultimate Edition includes a range of bonus content. For instance, buyers will get the Land, Air, and Sea Pack; a bundle which features 3 Operator Skins, 3 Vehicle Skins, and 3 Weapon Blueprints. Buyers will also get the Confrontation Weapons Pack, which appears to be a general pre-order bonus. The Ultimate Edition also includes a Battle Pass Bundle, giving players access to the game’s first season Battle Pass and 20 Tier Skips.
