Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season Two Has Been Delayed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season One has, by all reports, been a considerable success. When it first launches, it was billed as the largest new content drop in the history of the franchise. Indeed, the season is now going to be even larger than planned. However, this is actually because Activision has delayed the launch of Modern Warfare Season Two. The first season was supposed to end this month, but it will now end on the 11th of February instead.

When Players Can Expect Modern Warfare Season Two

According to Infinity Ward, the reason for Season One being ‘extended’ is to give players a chance to try out new bonus activities and content; all of which will be coming in the next couple of weeks. While the studio is describing this as a Season One extension, it’s hard not to notice that it’s also a Season Two delay; indeed, this might be the studio’s way of covering up a gap left by an unplanned delay. Indeed, some of this content might even have been originally planned for the start of Season Two anyway. (Especially considering that there will not be an equal extension to make up for lost time at the end of Season Two.)

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season Two Delayed to February

“Over the next few weeks,” explains Infinity Ward; “a host of new items and challenges will arrive, including an in-game challenge to earn the new Crossbow weapon, more remixed game modes, new playlists, and more in the Store to discover. To make room for all that activity, we are making a one-time extension of Season One – it’s now ending on February 11.”

To help players finish their Season One Battle Pass progression, Infinity Ward will be offering the following during the extension; 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression. Whatever the reasons behind the delay, it doesn’t seem like players will be left wanting for new content. Indeed, Infinity Ward’s practically breakneck speed of content delivery shows no signs of slowing. Season Two itself will simply be arriving a bit later than planned.
