Call of Duty: WWII’s ‘Valkyrie’ Map Free For A Limited Time

Can’t wait to hear more about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4? Need something to help tide you over until E3 2018 rolls around? Sledgehammer Games has you covered, as the Call of Duty: WWII developer is making one of the game’s DLC maps free for all players beginning this weekend, running May 25 through May 29. Get ready to chill out during Memorial Day weekend with the “Valkyrie” map, which you’ll get to have a taste of before the weekend is out.

Sledgehammer announced the news in its newest Weekly Community Update post that just came out on May 22, where the developer stated that fans who hadn’t yet bought the new DLC map would finally get to try it out.

Previously, the map was unavailable as part of ranked play, and it remained unplayable unless players had purchased the corresponding DLC pack. The fan-favorite map is a tight area that rewards close-quarters combat and features frenetic action. It’s similar in scope to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s “Detroit” map, and while it hasn’t officially been called a remake of that map, it’s close enough that it certainly seems to have been intentional.

If you’re interested in playing, you have until 10 AM PDT on May 29 to hop in and enjoy Valkyrie with your friends, even if you don’t own DLC Pack 1. There’s also a special Valkyrie-only playlist you can hop into, which will help you out if you’re trying to earn a little progression since Double XP, Double Division XP, and Double Weapon XP will be going on.

There’s a lot of awesome things to come when Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 touches down later this year, so you’ll definitely want to get as much as you can out of the previous Call of Duty game before it’s time to hop on over to the newest multiplayer-centric release. You know it’s always out with the old and in with the new, so enjoy last year’s iteration while you still can.
