CD Projekt Red Still Can’t Return Cyberpunk 2077 to the PlayStation Store

Shortly after its disastrous release, Sony made the decision to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store. The game has been unavailable on the storefront ever since, with no news of it returning. Now, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they are still in discussions with Sony to return the game to the platform.

Cyberpunk 2077 is Still Unavailable on the PlayStation Store

Yesterday, CD Projekt held a shareholder meeting, during which, the management were questioned about the status of Cyberpunk 2077 returning to Sony’s storefront. It has been almost six months since the game was first removed. During that time, around 13.7 million copies of the game have been sold. Of course, being unavailable on one of the largest digital storefronts has undoubtedly impacted the game’s overall potential sales. CD Projekt has confirmed that it refunded around 30,000 copies of Cyberpunk 2077 after release; a relatively small number given how widely refunds were available.

Cyberpunk 2077 PlayStation Store Still Unknown 2

Asked about Cyberpunk 2077 returning to the PlayStation Store, CD Projekt joint CEO Adam Kicinski told shareholders; “Unfortunately, I have no new information in this regard. We are still in discussions and with every patch the game gets better and there is a visible progress, but as we said the decision is an exclusive decision of Sony, so we are waiting for the information about the fact that they took the decision to bring back this game. Until then I am not able to tell you anything more.”

As such, it appears that CD Projekt is largely powerless in this regard. The studio is evidently aiming for Cyberpunk 2077 to eventually return. However, it is having to wait for Sony to make the decision. As more patches release, and the quality of the game steadily improves, it becomes more and more likely that the decision will be made. However, for now, it seems CD Projekt is as much in the dark as fans.
