Composer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider Revealed

Get ready for more amazing music in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Square-Enix announced that Brian D’Oliveira is composing the latest game in the rebooted Tomb Raider series. Prior to composing the game, he’s worked on games such as Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Tearaway, and LittleBigPlanet 3.

Brian’s Work in Tomb Raider

“Brian has a mind-blowing collection of pre-Columbian and South-American instruments, which form the basis of our authentic sound signature for the game. He has also spent a lot of time working with musicians from specific regions in South America to understand how and why the music would be performed on those instruments. It all brings a unique colour and authenticity to the score that I don’t think anyone will have heard anyone else.”

In the video above, you can see Brian using a wide variety of instruments to emphasize different situations and emotions. Furthermore, music tracks Obsession, Prolouge, and Maya Ruins Escape have also been revealed. They’re all great tracks and worth checking out.

Additionally, composer and sound designer Martin Stig Andersen has also been brought on board. Previously, he’s worked on Limbo (2010) and Inside (2016), both of which were developed by Playdead.

The latest Tomb Raider reboot kicked off in 2013 and moved forward with Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015. From the looks of it, this latest installment will be the darkest one yet and push Lara to her true potential. This time, the story brings Lara and her friend Jonah in the midst of a Mayan apocalypse.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider will release on September 14th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. What do you think of the latest music tracks? Is Brian the right choice to compose the latest Tomb Raider game? Let us know in the comments section below. We’d love to hear from you.
