Console War Hype Reaches Fever Pitch on Twitter

We’ve had a huge few days when it comes to news about the next generation consoles! We now know the release date and pricing for Xbox Series X/S as well as the full and digital-only versions of the PS5. Pre-orders have already started for PS5. So, it is no surprise that the console war hype is heating up over on Twitter.

The Console War Hype Has Reached New Heights

The official Xbox account on Twitter made this tweet:

The post says, “our mentions right now,” with a smiling, sweating emoji. In the picture, there is a notification alert icon with a number like “9999999999+” after it (maybe there are more 9s—we did not type it out precisely). The point is, Xbox has a flood of mentions.

As you would predict, the post has received a lot of attention, and well over 1,000 comments. Reactions are all over the map. Some gamers are chiming in with support for Microsoft or Sony, others are discussing the features and pricing and how they compare, and still others are getting on the rest for being so competitive. There are a lot of funny replies, so it is worth scrolling through them if you have the time.

Pre-orders for PlayStation 5 have already started. As of the time of this writing, they are also on hold again as retailers rush to restock. It would appear that the existing stock sold out in a matter of hours or less at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart and GameStop. As a result, if you want to pre-order, you are stuck waiting again. Pretty crazy, right? But we knew it was going to be like this.

This is an exciting time with tons of updates coming out about both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Make sure you don’t miss out on any important announcements. Follow our PlayStation news.
