Couchmaster CYBOT Review

I spend a lot of time on my couch. Why? Honestly, it is a more ergonomic place for me to sit than my desk and chair, which are the wrong heights. While I have always been able to game ergonomically on my console on my couch, I never was able to game ergonomically on my laptop. So, I was thrilled at the chance to test out a solution, the Couchmaster CYBOT. Did it work? Let’s check out the specs, ergonomics, construction, features, pros and cons in my Couchmaster CYBOTreview.

Couchmaster CYBOT Chair Specs

  • Each arm measures 20 cm wide x 60 cm long x 16 cm high
  • The desk measures 75 cm wide x 33 cm from front to back
  • Ideal for laptops that measure up to 17 inches
  • Keeps your laptop cool with ventilation

Finally, an Ergonomic Couch Gaming Solution

I’ve actually tried to create DIY ergonomic laptop setups on my couch in the past. Seriously, I’ve done some silly things, like stacking old cardboard boxes up on either side of me. In a pinch, what else are you supposed to do? I had no idea that something like the Couchmaster CYBOT even existed. As you might guess, all of my DIY attempts were unmitigated disasters.

Enter the Couchmaster CYBOT. Finally, someone actually created a lap desk for notebooks specifically for the purpose of gaming and working on the couch. As I do a lot of gaming and working on my computer, I was eager to put it to the test.

Setup

Getting started with the Couchmaster CYBOT is super simple. You just sit down on the couch, position it over you lap, and set your laptop on top. Make sure you set it down over the ventilation grille. Using a tablet? The Couchmaster CYBOT includes a universal tablet holder.

Note that the board is not directly attached to the arms. That means that if you need to push it away from you or move it closer, you can. It is adjustable to your needs.

Construction

I am happy to report that the Couchmaster CYBOT features sturdy construction and strong, lightweight, eco-friendly materials. The board is made out of sustainably-sourced bamboo, and the cushions contain Kevlar. There is a black and gray pixelated camo pattern on the cushions, so the aesthetic is ideal for FPS gamers.

Ergonomics and Comfort

I’d done some research before testing the Couchmaster CYBOT, and the measurements seemed like they should be about right for me. It turned out they were perfect. I didn’t have to strain my elbows reaching at an unnatural angle like I do at my regular desk, and I was able to maintain a straight line through my wrists with the help of the built-in, comfortable wrist pads.

I have chronic neck and back pain—not a good combination for someone who works on their laptop and wants to game on it later. For me, this product has been a major quality of life upgrade, allowing me to spend more time doing what I’m passionate about without hurting myself.

Incidentally, you can use the Couchmaster CYBOT pretty much anywhere, not just on your sofa. It also works great if you have a large enough chair that you can fit it in with you (or, if you are okay with just setting the board on your lap, you can skip the arms/cushions), or you can use it to game or work on your bed.

Features

The Couchmaster CYBOT isn’t just a lap desk—it also comes with some cool extra features for your convenience. There are side bags you can use to store peripherals, your power supply and accessories, a mouse pocket you can position as needed, and an extra-large mouse pad.

Pros of the Couchmaster CYBOT:

  • The product dimensions are ideal for ergonomic gaming on the couch or sitting in bed.
  • Being able to position the tray as needed on top of the cushions can help ensure the right positioning for your arms.
  • There is a vent built right into the tray so that your laptop doesn’t overheat.
  • The materials are robust and the construction is solid; this is a product that should stand up to plenty of wear and tear. I mean, Kevlar … seriously. What else could you ask for?
  • The side pockets make it easy to store your power supply and accessories without clutter.
  • The aesthetics of the Couchmaster CYBOT are also appealing. As an avid FPS gamer, I couldn’t ask for a better appearance. The camo is suitably badass.
  • It is a great bonus knowing that this is an eco-friendly purchase. The environment needs our help these days more than ever.

Cons of the Couchmaster CYBOT:

  • You won’t be able to use this product sitting in most chairs unless you don’t use the arms/cushions.
  • Some larger laptops may not fit on the desk.
  • I’ve heard some people say that the wrist pads sometimes are a bit warped, necessitating the purchase of supplemental wrist supports. I didn’t have this problem with mine though.

Final Verdict:

Is the Couchmaster CYBOT an expense? Yes. But it is a solution for ergonomic couch gaming that is elegant, robust, and permanent.

Since getting mine, I have been using it for hours a day to work comfortably on my laptop, followed up by an hour or two of gaming with it again at night. It has helped me out a lot to spend some time away from typing and playing at my regular desk. The couch offers better back support than my chair, and the Couchmaster CYBOT gives me a comfortable angle for using the keyboard and mouse.

Thanks for checking out my Couchmaster CYBOT review! There are very few potential disadvantages to this product. Check the measurements and see if it will be the right fit for your laptop and your ergonomic requirements. If you find out it’s the right size for what you need, don’t hesitate to buy it. You’ll soon be wondering how you survived so long without it.
