Custom Blueprints are Now Available in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

With the launch of the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update, players can now do something they’ve been wanting to do for a very, very long time; design their own custom blueprints! Gunsmith Customs are brand-new and allow players to create all sorts of never-before-seen combinations.

New Black Ops Cold War Gunsmith Customs

“If you’ve ever wanted to create your own Weapon Blueprints in Black Ops Cold War, your time has come,” writes Activision; “With today’s launch of Gunsmith Customs, players can now mix-and-match attachments […] to create their very own Blueprints.”

Gunsmith Customs is a new feature available for use in the Create-a-Class menu. It allows players to create their own weapon Blueprints, which can be named and saved in the Custom Mods section. These Blueprints are then usable in both Multiplayer and Zombies. Rather than having to stick to pre-existing combinations of attachments, Gunsmith Customs allow players to mix up their favourite attachments. There are some restrictions, however. You can only mix attachments which are available in Weapon Blueprints of the same weapon type, for example.

Nevertheless, the launch of Gunsmith Customs gives players an unprecedented level of customisation options for their weaponry. Ever since the format was established in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Weapon Blueprints haven’t been something that players can customise. Now, players will be able to use whichever combination of weapon and attachments they wish, without needing to hunt for the closest matching Blueprint. Alongside the existing Create-a-Class system, this should allow players to fine-tune their play-style further than ever.

Given that the launch of Gunsmith Customs has come in the closing days of Season 2, it remains to be seen how it will impact the release of new content in Season 3. With Blueprints becoming more customisable, Treyarch may change the way that Weapon Blueprints are traditionally acquired.
