Cyberpunk 2077 Will Let Streamers Disable Copyrighted Music

With Cyberpunk 2077 now finally very close to release, many gamers, and in particular, streamers, are planning ahead for launch. In what is likely to come as welcome news for many of those individuals, CD Projekt Red has now confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077 music will feature options to disable copyrighted tracks.

Cyberpunk 2077 Music & Streaming Options

“We wanted to address some concerns which have recently appeared in regards to possible copyright problems connected with streaming Cyberpunk 2077 and its soundtrack,” writes CD Projekt Red, in a recent blog post; “As always, we encourage everyone to create videos using content from our games and we love to see you stream them.”

Cyberpunk 2077 Music Can be Disabled for Streaming 2

The reason these concerns have arisen is because the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack features an enormous number of original songs written by contributing artists; more than 150 in total. These will appear throughout the game, on radio stations, in cars and clubs, etc. However, because of copyright laws, not all of these songs can be used in unofficial video content. Fortunately, CD Projekt Red has made it easy for players to avoid this concern.

When Cyberpunk 2077 launches, the game will offer an option in the Settings to; “Disable Copyrighted Music”. This will disable all the tracks, or even just small portions of certain tracks, which would otherwise result in the demonetization or takedown of videos & streams online. “Be sure to have this option enabled before you start streaming or recording your Cyberpunk 2077 content!” instructs the studio.

Going even further, the studio went on to state in their recent blog that they will endeavour to help anybody who still experiences copyright issues despite the inclusion of this setting. Hopefully, this will make it as easy as possible for streamers and other content creators to play Cyberpunk 2077 online. (Without running into any troublesome copyright issues relating to music.) Given the enormous hype surrounding the release, this is a very wise move from CD Projekt Red; ensuring that as many people as possible will play the game at launch.
