Damian Lillard is 2K Cover Star, Still Needs NBA 2K20 Galaxy Opal Card

The Portland Trail Blazers Damian Lillard was officially revealed as the face of the current-generation NBA 2K21 game on Tuesday. That means Dame will grace the cover of the Standard Edition game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PCs. The announcement came as a surprise but was well-deserved by Lillard. That said, many fans are wondering why the 2K cover star is still without a real Galaxy Opal card in the current game.

2K cover star Damian Lillard cards available for NBA 2K20

To honor the brand new 2K cover star, NBA 2K20 MyTeam tweeted out a special code for fans. Gamers can enter the code into MyTeam’s Extras area where it has Locker Codes. That brings up a Ball Drop game. Players decide when to press the game controller to drop a ball through a Ping Pong type machine. It bounces around and eventually lands in a colored bucket. There’s a corresponding reward for each bucket.

With the code NBA-2K21-DAME-TIME, gamers can have a chance at one of two Damian Lillard Pink Diamond cards. Each brings a 97 overall rating for the Blazers point guard. He can also play the shooting guard for your MyTeam.

There are two Pink Diamond Lillard cards shown up above. Of those cards, the one with Lillard in the red Blazers jersey has 22 Gold and 20 Hall of Fame Badges. The attributes include 97 Playmaking, 96 Outside Scoring, 89 Athleticism, 71 Defending, 64 Inside Scoring, and 62 Rebounding.

The card with Lillard in the black jersey features 18 Gold and 24 Hall of Fame Badges. Attributes include 96 Outside Scoring, 94 Playmaking, 71 Defending, 64 Inside Scoring, and 62 Rebounding.

The other available reward for that code is Tokens to use in the Token Store. The free code above will expire as of Thursday, July 9, 2020 so make sure to use it before then.

Lillard has a Galaxy Opal, sort of

Other cards for Lillard in the 2K20 game include a 96 Pink Diamond Rewards 2, a 93 OVR card, and an 89 OVR card. There is no true Galaxy Opal card for Lillard, but he does have one available through NBA 2K20 Dynamic Duos.

Gamers will need to have Lillard’s Pink Diamond Moments card paired up with his former teammate, LaMarcus Aldridge, who has a Prime V.I.P. Series II Diamond card. Once both cards are paired up, Aldridge will upgrade to Pink Diamond and Dame upgrades to a Galaxy Opal.

Even with that, many gamers believe the NBA 2K21 cover star is deserving of a much more powerful Galaxy Opal item. Many fans in the community are suggesting he needs more Hall of Fame Badges to use in the popular MyTeam mode.

That could be on the way in the coming days, as we revealed there was a first member of the 2K20 Players Club. Lonzo Ball had a special MyTeam Locker Code he tweeted out where fans would get a free pack with a random card of him inside. The three cards included Amethyst, Diamond, and Galaxy Opal. Could Dame be on the way?

He definitely deserves that respect. After all, he admits he’s been playing 2K since the days of Sega Dreamcast.
