Dark Souls Remastered Launches for Nintendo Switch on October 19

Publisher Bandai Namco has announced that the long-awaited Nintendo Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered will be launching in just a few months on October 19.

The October release date is a bit later than the “summer, 2018” window that Bandai Namco provided when it initially delayed the Nintendo Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered back in April, but as they say, better late than never. Bandai Namco announced the October 19 release date via Twitter, confirming that the unique Solaire of Astora amiibo will arrive on the same day. Unsurprisingly, the new amiibo will allow Dark Souls Remastered Switch players to unlock Solaire’s iconic ‘Praise the Sun’ gesture in-game.

Bandai Namco’s tweet also confirmed that an online technical test for the Nintendo Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered will be held sometimes between now and its October launch, with more information to follow shortly. Our guess is that the test will be held sometime in September, though there is a possibility that Bandai Namco could be aiming for a late August testing period. Either way, the technical test will afford participants a chance to try out the Nintendo Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered ahead of its full launch.

Nintendo Switch users will soon be able to praise the sun to their heart's content.

The Nintendo Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered has been a highly anticipated launch not just because it marks the first time a Dark Souls game will be available on a Nintendo console, but also because it will allow players to get their Dark Souls fix even while on the go. The Switch version will also naturally benefit from all of the upgrades found in the previously released versions of Dark Souls Remastered, including graphical enhancements and expanded multiplayer capabilities.

Post-launch support for Dark Souls Remastered has also done much to combat cheaters, something which has benefited all Dark Souls fans regardless of their given platform. Sadly, the Nintendo Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered won’t have mod support, though given recent events, that might not be such a bad thing.
