Death Stranding Gets a Seven-and-a-Half Minute Launch Trailer

Death Stranding is now just over a week away from release, and if fans were hoping for greater clarity from the game’s pre-launch promotionals, they are unfortunately out of luck. Today, Kojima Productions released the Death Stranding launch trailer; a huge video which is nearly eight minutes long. The trailer offers glimpses of both cutscenes and gameplay, and as per usual, raises plenty more questions than it answers.

The Long (and Confusing) Death Stranding Launch Trailer

Death Stranding is due to release on the 8th of November, in just over a week’s time. Since its announcement, the game has earned a reputation for being extremely strange, with many unsure about sort of game it actually is. The new Death Stranding launch trailer does give some indication of what gameplay will be like, and also offers some hints about the setting and character relationships. However, it also offers glimpses of things which are completely new, such as the vast flying whale-like creature…

Evidently, fans will need to actually get the game if they want to figure out what Death Stranding is about. (Although at this point, it seems likely that even then, there will be plenty of differing interpretations and theories!) Whatever the case, this is likely to be the final trailer before release. The trailer, notably, made a point to highlight the game’s all-star cast; something which could help it appeal to a wider-than-normal audience. Indeed, the game is set to have one of the most high-profile casts in gaming history, including Mads Mikkelsen, Norman Reedus, Troy Baker, Léa Seydoux, Tommie Earl-Jenkins, and many others.

Death Stranding Launch Trailer Released 2

For now, it remains to be seen what sort of reception the game will get at release. The hype for the game is practically palpable, so it will certainly have a lot to live up to. Of course, this is also Kojima Productions first title as a studio. If it performs well, then it could cement the studio’s place (and reputation) in the industry for years to come.
