Destiny 2: Competitive Changing to 3v3 Survival, 2 Classic Maps Returning

Destiny 2 Competitive started last year in Year 1 somewhere between Curse of Osiris and Warmind. Back then, before Forsaken, Destiny 2 Competitive was full of sweats and try hard players (still kind of is). Since the player-base was so low in Destiny 2 back in Year 1, the only players who were playing Competitive were mostly Streamer who are like the top players on the Leader boards or the ones who are insanely good at Destiny 2’s PvP.

But with Forsaken, Destiny 2 attracted a huge amount of new players to the game. And after that, the golden era of Destiny 2 started. Bungie started rolling out steady content updates with new Seasons and players enjoyed most of it (except for the Reckoning). Now, with Destiny 2’s going Free-to-Play, Bungie is expecting the player-base to rise exponentially.

Earlier today, Bungie released the final article of Luke Smith’s Director’s Cut series. It’s mainly cover the PvP part of the Destiny 2. Bungie has been listening to all of the feedback since forever, and now, they’ve made some Quality-of-Life changes to Destiny 2’s Competitive playlist.

Destiny 2 Competitive Changes

Destiny 2 Competitive Changes

Beginning Shadowkeep, Destiny 2’s Competitive will be changing from a 4v4 activity to 3v3 activity just like what we had in Destiny 1. For those (pretty much counts all of us) who don’t like Countdown in Competitive, we have good news for you! Destiny 2 Competitive will be 3v3 Survival only starting from Shadowkeep. This means we can finally say good-bye to Countdown in Competitive.  Here’s what Luke has to say:

“Competitive is replaced by 3v3 Survival (which now awards Glory). We’ve also added a Survival Solo Queue playlist that also awards Glory. “

Bungie also announced that two Classic PvP maps (from Destiny 1) – Widow’s Court and Twilight Gap, will also be returning this fall with Shadowkeep.

“We wanted to make sure we could test Elimination on some familiar maps, so we’ve brought back Widow’s Court and Twilight Gap. We want to play with you, and watch you play Elimination in this combat sandbox and see how it all fits together.”

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will be hitting PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, on October 1, 2019, and later in November on Google Stadia.
