Destiny 2 Could Be Getting A New Event Called Armsweek

Bungie recently shared an updated roadmap for upcoming Destiny 2 content, revealing that the game will soon receive, among other things, a bounty system, a Crucible test server, and a new seasonal event called Solstice of Heroes. However, one new addition that wasn’t referenced in the roadmap and yet still may be coming to the game is something called Armsweek, an event that will definitely appeal to players who want to make their Exotic weapons as powerful as possible.

As of this writing, Bungie hasn’t officially announced any sort of Armsweek event, but several references to Armsweek can currently be found on the studio’s website. Going by what the new Armsweek entries say, it looks as if the event will involve completing strikes while being restricted to a specific weapon loadout.

There will be a new playlist where players are matchmade into random strikes as well as specific Armsweek Nightfall strikes where players have to use a specific Exotic weapon. The three Nightfall entries in the above list point to the Rat King, Prospector, and Hard Light Exotics, and finishing those Nightfalls will award an Exotic Catalyst for the corresponding weapon. Since Rat King, The Prospector, and Hard Light don’t currently have Exotic Catalysts (most Catalysts are found as random drops), having them attached to Armsweek Nightfalls would make sense.

The name Armsweek bears some resemblance to Armsday, a weekly event that was introduced in the original Destiny’s Taken King expansion. Armsday allowed players to place orders for specific weapons that would have randomized stat and perk rolls. Finding weapons with ideal rolls became a sort of unofficial meta-game for many Destiny players, which is why some fans weren’t happy with Bungie’s decision to forego random weapon rolls for Destiny 2.

Again, it’s important to note that at this time Armsweek hasn’t been officially confirmed. However, if it does end up being a real event, it could offer Destiny 2 players an interesting new way to approach the game’s structured strike content.
