Back before the launch of Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion, weapon catalysts were all the rage. These randomly-dropped items would permanently boost a specific Exotic weapon’s stats once certain conditions were met. However, after Forsaken, Bungie shifted its focus away from catalysts, and players soon followed suit. If a new batch of unearthed data is to be believed, though, weapon catalysts may soon be making a comeback.
Destiny 2 Year 2 Weapon Catalysts
Redditor Eander (a developer for the Light.gg Destiny database website) recently posted some findings on the Destiny 2 subreddit. Eander’s data comes from hidden files contained in Destiny 2’s recently deployed 2.2.2 game update.
The initial batch of Exotic catalysts Eander discovered come complete with associated stat modifications. Of course, even Eander warns that the catalysts shouldn’t be considered “official” until Bungie says so. The nine new Exotic weapon catalysts and their associated stat modifications are as follows:
- Cerberus +1 – Stability +20, Reload Speed -30
- Malfeasance – Range +20
- Trinity Ghoul – Charge Time -30
- Lord of Wolves – Magazine +40
- Wavesplitter – Range +10, Ammo Capacity +30
- One Thousand Voices – Stability +30, Ammo Capacity +20
- The Queenbreaker – Range +20, Aim Assist +20
- Two-Tailed Fox – Reload Speed -30, Ammo Capacity +10
- Black Talon – Magazine +40
Catalytic Potential
Eander also discovered database entries for an additional 11 Exotic weapon catalysts, but no attached stat modifications. The non-stat catalysts are as follows:
- Ace of Spades
- Wish-Ender
- Thorn
- The Last Word
- Arbalest
- The Chaperone
- Le Monarque
- Izanagi’s Burden
- Anarchy
- Jotunn
- Thunderlord
Again, it’s important to reiterate that none of the above catalysts should be considered a guaranteed addition at this point. However, if they are indeed real, Destiny 2 players could soon have a whole slew of new rewards to chase. In the meantime, one new addition that’s definitely real is the new Outbreak Perfected Exotic weapon.
