Destiny 2: Forsaken Reddit Post Reveals New Details About The Scorn Barons

As part of its August gaming coverage, Game Informer is doing a massive cover story on Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion, and naturally fans have been quick to share a lot of that information on the official Destiny subreddit. Unsurprisingly, the information shared includes new details about the Scorn Barons, an elite group of unique enemies who are being led by the expansion’s central antagonist, Uldren Sov.

The Barons won't go down easily.

Players will have plenty of incentive for wanting to go after Uldren, but before they can reach him, they’ll have to defeat eight different Scorn Barons, each of whom embodies a unique archetype and challenges players with a unique combat style.

We already knew that the Forsaken campaign will allow players to confront the Barons in any order they please, but it turns out that’s only partially true. According to the Reddit post, only an initial selection of six Barons can be confronted in any order a player chooses, while the final two Barons will be cordoned off until the very end as part of the story. Once all eight Barons are dead, players will be able to go after Uldren himself.

Here are the Barons we know about so far:

  • The Mad Bomber – A Baron sporting a bandoleer of void grenades. His penchant for explosives might prove to be problematic for players who aren’t quick on their feet.
  • The Rider – A Baron who rides a Pike into battle. Not only can the Pike fire projectiles at the player, but there’s a good chance that The Rider will try to run them over as well.
  • The Trickster – A Baron who tries to confuse and disorient the player, leading them into traps that contain hidden explosives.
  • The Rifleman – A Baron who specializes in long-range engagements using a sniper rifle. It’s not clear yet whether players will have to play him at his own game or if they’ll be able to gain an edge by closing the distance.
  • There have been hints of a melee-focused Baron, but if he does indeed exist we don’t know his proper name yet

Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion will launch on September 4 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
