Diablo III For Nintendo Switch Announced

The day has finally come. After all the rumors, Diablo III has been announced for Nintendo Switch. This also marks the first Blizzard game on a Nintendo system in over 15 years.

As reported by Kotaku, the game was supposed to be officially announced tomorrow, but Forbes accidentally broke the news early. A couple minutes after Forbes posted the news, they took it down.

Titled Diablo III Eternal Collection, it’ll come with the original game, the Reaper of Souls expansion, the Rise of the Necromancer expansion, and all updates added to the game since launch. Furthermore, new armor inspired by Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda series will be included.

Additionally, the game will offer several multiplayer options. These modes range from four-player co-op on the same console to four-player co-op on separate Switches. On top of that, some players can be local while others are online.

Rumors about Diablo III coming to Switch have been around for a while. They started popping up when the official Blizzard Twitter account posted a video of a Diablo themed light switch. The game has been out on PC since 2012 and then came to consoles in 2014. With Nintendo trying to emphasize online functionality more, having Diablo III on the Switch could help. Other third-party games such as Fortnite and Paladins have also helped Switch become a place to play online only games.

Diablo III Eternal Collection will cost $59.99 and come out later this year. With titles such as The World Ends With You: Final Remix, Dark Souls: Remastered, and now Diablo III, this will be a great third-party lineup for the Nintendo Switch.
