Dontnod Entertainment Releases Massive New Patch for Vampyr

Vampyr has been out for a little over a month now. The latest game from Dontnod Entertainment, the studio best-known for developing Life is Strange, Vampyr received generally positive reviews at launch. It also sold very well during its first few weeks, claiming the top spot on several retail charts. As such, Dontnod Entertainment has been good at keeping regular updates coming out for the title. The latest is a particularly massive one; Vampyr patch 1.04,

The 1.04 Vampyr Update

Vampyr’s 1.04 update is a colossal 5.9 GB. That means you might want to schedule some time to download it if you’re planning on playing Vampyr any time soon. While it might take a while to download, it’s certainly worth the time. The patch addresses a whole host of bugs and implements a few new features to boot.

The changes to Vampyr’s controls center around walking and recovery. The walk controls have been altered in 1.04 so that players can set it to hold or toggle; this should allow players to better control their movements in the game. The second change should allow the Recovery Icon to display when a civilian heals, making it more clearly visible.

Most of the Vampyr patch’s content comes in bug fixes, however. An array of cut-scene bugs have now been patched, and FX bugs which caused flickering lights and framerate drops should also have been fixed. A bizarre issue where major spoiler characters would accidentally spawn has been removed, and the game’s menus have been re-optimized. In general, Vampyr has received a set of new behind-the-scenes improvements to performance and stability. If you were considering picking up the gothic vampire title, now might well be a good time to do so. Reviewers did not criticize the game heavily for bugs when it launched, but like almost every new release, there are a few bugs here and there. It’s certainly good to see Dontnod doing its best to address them quickly.
