Gamers on all platforms can currently benefit from Double Weapon XP across both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone in Activision’s latest Double XP Weekend event. This event is likely to be players’ last chance to take advantage of such an offering before the end of Season 5.
The Latest Call of Duty Double Weapon XP Weekend
At present, a Double Weapon XP bonus is live in both current Call of Duty titles. This benefit is due to end on Monday the 27th of September at 10:00 AM PT. As such, players only have a couple more days to take advantage of the event. While Activision hasn’t confirmed as much, it looks likely that this could be the final Double XP event before Season 5 concludes. Neither Activision nor Treyarch have confirmed a start date for the next season. However, the outro cinematic for Season 5 has now been released; indicating that its conclusion is coming very soon.
As a result, this weekend is an ideal opportunity for players wanting to grind their Season 5 Battle Pass a little more before the end of the season to do so. With the end of Season 5, those Battle Passes will no longer be available, so players now have a very limited window to unlock any tier rewards that they haven’t reached yet.
Over the course of the last two weeks, Activision has largely focused on Call of Duty: Vanguard, marketing its Open Beta event widely. Now that the Beta has come to an end, Vanguard is likely to remain quiet for a while, as its November launch approaches. In that lull, it makes sense for Activision to debut a new season for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. (Thereby keeping fans engaged in the short-term as Vanguard’s launch remains over a month away.) As such, fans should expect to hear news of Season 6 in the very near future.
