EA Servers Down: FIFA, Madden 20 Gamers Report Server Issues on Feb. 29

On Saturday, February 29, many gamers attempted to play online modes for popular sports games FIFA 20 and Madden 20 but couldn’t. Many frustrated gamers took to social media to vent about the EA servers being down. In addition, EA acknowledged the issues affecting online play for its popular sports games.

EA servers down for FIFA 20, Madden 20, and other popular games

Online gaming is a popular aspect of video games these days, but server issues often hinder gamers from getting online to join games or one they do, successfully finishing them. That was the case on Saturday, Feb. 29 with a variety of EA titles including popular sports games Madden and FIFA.

As of 3:33 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, the Downdetector website had over 6,700 reports of issues with EA servers. After the numerous reports that there were issues with the EA servers, there was finally acknowledgment of the issue. EA FIFA Direct and Origin each tweeted to let gamers know they were looking into the issues. The @EAHelp account retweeted them each as well.

This is the latest set of server issues in the past several days for EA. Just two days ago, @EAHelp reported they were “looking into” issues with their games, websites, and online modes as well.

Frustrated gamers vent online

The stress of not being able to use the online features of a game is real. A number of gamers took to Twitter to express how frustrated they were over the EA servers issue. For many people, it appears to be something that happens all too regularly as it prevents enjoyment of the EA games including Madden 20 and FIFA 20.

@EAHelp really disappointed if not the connection problem is the problem with the servers. Will anyone give me points I lost on fut champion because I registered and I didn't play a single match because ea has a problems.

The good news for Origin appeared to be they were reporting some success in getting things resolved. However, a similar report had yet to arrive from EA or the FIFA Twitter accounts.

The EA server problem is something that has caused both FIFA and Madden 20 issues this season and in prior seasons. In addition to disrupting online competition, it has also affected gamers getting rewards for online challenges or competitions on time.

In the past, EA’s various game teams usually make up for problems by giving gamers extra rewards. It’s unknown if that will happen with the latest server issues or what those might be.
