EA UFC 4 Release Date: Rumors Suggest Game Will Be PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X Launch Title

It’s been over two years since EA has released a UFC video game. However, there are new EA UFC 4 release date rumors suggesting that a fourth installment is on the way. While that’s good news on its own, it’s also looking like it will be amongst the titles that will be released for the next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Here’s what we know from the latest speculation about the next MMA game from EA.

Reddit post brings EA UFC 4 release date rumors

A recent post on Reddit is what got the EA UFC 4 rumors going with regards to its release date coinciding with the launches of the Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X. Based on the post (below), the recent events related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic have pushed the UFC 4 release from being fall 2020 to holiday 2020.

The other UFC 4 rumors mentioned in the Reddit post is that the focus will be on “content rather than aesthetics.” Each fighter will have their own unique feel for their fighting style based on this speculation. In addition, the ray-tracing technique, known as a holy grail for game graphics, is rumored to be used for UFC 4.

It’s exciting news as this could mean for some much-improved overall gameplay for the fighting title. The EA UFC 3 title has some decent reviews with a 75 out of 100 score on Metacritic along with a 7.5 out of 10 from IGN, and 8 out of 10 from GameSpot.

EA UFC history, Fight Night requests

If the EA UFC 4 rumors prove true, that means it’ll be the fourth installment in the series. The first game in the franchise came back in June of 2014 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. EA’s UFC 2 arrived in March 2016, while we saw EA UFC 3 game come out in February of 2018. That would mean it’s been over two years between titles, but seems about right based on the previous releases.

Meanwhile, it’s clear from many of the comments on that Reddit post above that gamers still want another Fight Night title. “We want fight night,” one Reddit commenter said. That comment received 38 points in upvotes.

“If EA refuses to make another Fight Night they should sell the IP to another company that will actually use it. UFC is dull and boring,” another Reddit comment reads.

The Fight Night 2004 title was the first in that series, and came out back in 2004 on the old PS2 and Xbox consoles. Fight Night Round 2 followed a year later, with Round 3 in 2006 and Round 4 in 2009.

In 2011 there was Fight Night Champion on the “newer” Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. However, gamers have yet to see EA’s Fight Night return.

With the EA UFC 4 rumors suggesting the mixed martial arts game will arrive for the next-gen consoles, many gamers have hope that a Fight Night game could also be in development. Sadly, there are no rumors or reports of that yet.
