Mortal Kombat is known for its violent scenes and gory fatalities. However, it’s also known for the fact that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. In fact, a lot of choices made towards roster picks were made due to humorous reasons. Ed Boon himself is known for being a huge troll who often responds to the most outlandish of rumors.
As such, nobody would be surprised at Ed Boon responding to the “Shaggy in Mortal Kombat 11” meme. The director of Mortal Kombat 11 has decided to humor the rumor of the Scooby-Doo! Character coming to the game. In typical Ed Boon fashion, he acknowledged the rumor and vaguely confirmed it.
Shaggy Meme Gets “Confirmed” as Mortal Kombat 11 Character by Ed Boon
For those who don’t know, the sudden interest in putting Shaggy in MK11 stems from a movie clip. The clip comes from Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur. In the clip, Shaggy beats up a biker gang because he gains bravery after hearing the word “Bad”. Since seeing is believing, you can watch the clip from the movie below:
The feat made by Shaggy is so impressive that the gaming community initiated a petition to include him in Mortal Kombat 11. The petition garnered over 170,000 signatures and continues growing more and more. Ed Boon certainly noticed this and responded to the petition with the following tweet.

While this definitely isn’t the confirmation people have expected. It certainly is fun to see Ed Boon acknowledging and embracing the memes that surround Mortal Kombat 11. However, it wouldn’t be strange to see the Scooby Doo! Character in the game a few months after release because Ed suddenly felt like it.
