Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield Won’t Suffer Due to Fallout 76, Says Analyst

Michael Pachter, a well-known gaming analyst who made headlines a few days ago for his rather unbelievable new prediction about the release date of The Elder Scrolls 6, also recently spoke at greater length about Bethesda’s future. As far as Pachter predicts, both The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield won’t suffer from the failures of Fallout 76.

Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield Won’t Suffer From Fallout 76’s Failure, Says Michael Pachter

Although Michael Pachter’s recent prediction that The Elder Scrolls 6 will release in 2019 is hard to believe (especially given that he has made identical and incorrect predictions for the game every year since 2016), he has also made plenty of correct predictions over the years. No analyst has a perfect record, after all. As a result, fans should take his thoughts on Bethesda’s future with a grain of salt.

Elder Scrolls 6 Shouldn't be Badly Impacted by Fallout 76 Says Pachter

In a recent interview with GamingBolt, Pachter said that the many failures of Fallout 76, especially the extremely bad press surrounding the game, shouldn’t negatively impact either of Bethesda’s upcoming titles; “I don’t think there’s any risk to any future single player games,” he says; “it just tells you that they weren’t ready to make a multiplayer-only game. They probably have to go back and figure out what they did wrong, and how to get it right. I have to say, it’s the first game in the Fallout series I haven’t played, and I don’t have any interest in playing it. I mean, it was so poorly reviewed that I’m just not gonna try it, and I’ve played all their games for hundreds of hours.”

Following on from his point, he adds; “I expect that people will look at it as a blip, but you never know”; At present, a large swathe of gamers certainly are vehemently opposed to Bethesda, with good reason. That anger is due primarily to the mishandling of the Fallout 76 release. (And of course, a number of subsequent PR disasters.) However, the majority of fans are likely still hoping that Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will be a return to form for Bethesda. As such, if the studio learns from their mistakes now, Pachter’s prediction here could well prove true; leaving Fallout 76 an unfortunate black mark on Bethesda’s record.
