Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr Will Finally Feature the Other Kinds of Khajiit

Khajiit are a staple of The Elder Scrolls series. Indeed, anybody who’s played an Elder Scrolls game should be familiar with the feline humanoid species. However, what many fans may not be familiar with are the numerous other breeds of Khajiit. These Khajiit appear in the lore, but have never featured in the games. Until now, that is. The upcoming Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr Khajiit will be a much more diverse and unusual selection of felines.

The Little-Known and Unusual Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr Khajiit

The Khajiit which fans are so familiar with are actually just one breed of the Khajiit species, known as Suthay-raht or Ja’khajiit. It is this breed which has been a staple playable race since the halcyon days of Morrowind and before. However, there are actually at least seventeen different breeds of Khajiit. (Not to mention the possibility of new ones!) Furthermore, some of these breeds are wildly different from the Suthay-raht. Until now, they have been confined to the lore, but according to ZeniMax Online Studios, many will feature among the Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr Khajiit.

Elder Scrolls Online Elsweyr Khajiit Alfiq

Alfiq, Senche-raht, Dagi and Many More…

One of the most unusual are the Alfiq; Khajiit which cannot speak and resemble ordinary housecats, although they do wear clothes. The Alfiq have been confirmed to appear in the new DLC, and ZeniMax even ran a recent community event to celebrate them. Another unusual breed is the Ohmes and Ohmes-raht, who are almost identical to Bosmer with few feline features. It’s unknown if they will feature in the DLC, but a screenshot released by ZeniMax clearly shows several different breeds together.

The screenshot includes an Alfiq, and a much larger quadrupedal feline of unclear breed, although it could be an Alfiq-raht or Senche-raht. (Senche-raht serve as steeds for the Khajiit. However, they are described as ape-like in the lore, so it’s unclear how ZeniMax have chosen to portray them.) One Khajiit is notably shorter than the others, and this one may be a Dagi or Dagi-raht; a tree-dwelling breed known for their spellcasting skills. Beside that Khajiit is a towering figure. Because the lore for these breeds is so sparse, it’s unclear which breed this could be. It could be a Pahmar-raht, or possibly a Senche-raht if the developers chose to portray them as humanoid. It’s unknown if any of these breeds will be playable. However, it certainly seems like Elsweyr’s cast will be the most diverse assortment of Khajiit to ever feature in an Elder Scrolls game.
