Adamou wins eMLS FIFA 20 Tournament in rookie season

It was just the third-ever edition of the eMLS Cup, but also the rookie season for competitor George Adamou. He’d go on to show that after putting in the hours playing the game to improve, he could take that with him all the way to the final. However, he had a formidable opponent standing in the way with No. 3 seed Didychrislito. It also created a matchup involving both New York eMLS clubs.

Adamou would go on to win by an aggregate score of 3-2. The two competitors played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Adamou scored in the 34th minute using Josef Martinez, but in the second half Didychrislito tied it up with a penalty.

Adamou claimed the Cup by winning the second leg, 2-1. Didychrislito went ahead 1-0 in the 20th minute of the matchup. Adamou scored about midway through the second half of action using Pozuelo. Ultimately, it went into extra time where Adamou would finish it off in the first period of extra time. That will bring the trophy to New York with Adamou the Red Bulls.

After his victory on Sunday, he received a congratulations on Twitter from New York Red Bulls player Sean Davis. “what a run, pumped for you bro!” the Red Bulls star tweeted with a photo of the champ.

Adamou talks about winning Cup in Victory Moment

After his championship win, Adamou was featured in the Victory Moment presented by Coca Cola. Stephen Keel asked him about how it felt to win it.

“Honestly there’s no other better way to explain it,” Adamou told Keel. “After I lost in the finals of League Series 1, I made a promise to myself that it was never happening again. I said I was gonna get to another final…Just to win my first trophy as a rookie, it’s just, honestly, I have no words..it’s unbelievable, I’m speechless.”

eMLS Cup bracket featured Fiddle, Doolsta

George Adamou had his work cut out for him to cap off his rookie season with this eMLS FIFA 20 Tournament Cup win. That included a tough matchup against one of the best competitors around in FIFA competitive gaming.

According to the MLS Soccer recap of the tourney results, the Series One and Two champion Fiddle from the FC Cincinnati was unable to win the eMLS Cup this year. After a quarterfinals match went 0-0 in regulation and through extra time, Adamou took him out thanks to penalty kicks, 4-3.

The reigning eMLS champion was also part of the field, this time as part of Nashville’s club. However, Doolsta would suffer defeat in just the first matchup of the bracket.

Toronto’s PHILB94 was able to eliminate the Nashville representative, 2-1. PHILB94 was able to gain momentum from the onset with a goal in the 9th minute of their contest. Doolsta would tie things up, but PhilB94 managed to seize victory after a key penalty late in the matchup.
