Last weekend, Creative Assembly held the latest Everchosen Invitational; the eSports competition the studio holds periodically for Total War: Warhammer 2. This event was the 2018 Everchosen Halloween Invitational, and saw eight of the best players in the world face off. The event also celebrated the upcoming launch of Curse of the Vampire Coast, the game’s next DLC, and the competitors were able to use the new Vampire Coast faction in their matches.
The Everchosen Halloween Invitational Highlights and Recap
“Taking place live at the Creative Assembly studio,” says CA’s recap blog post; “there were vampires, pirates, and crabs galore – but who was it who won the right to call themselves Arch Grand Commodore?”
The Invitational took place over the course of two days. Day 1’s quarter-finals saw players Indypride, Aerocrastic, Loremaster of Sotek, and Tlaxtlan Soothsayer defeating Pippington, The Gobbo King, Romulan Dawg, and Shetland Apache, respectively. The day’s proceedings also featured a show-match which pitted commentators ItalianSpartacus and Turin against two of Creative Assembly’s own developers. The full live-stream of the first day of the Invitational is view-able below. This event is the first time that the upcoming Vampire Coast faction has been seen in battle; the DLC was only announced a few weeks ago.
The second day of the Invitational began with Aeocrastic defeating Indypride, while Tlaxtlan Soothsayer beat Loremaster of Sotek; both players winning 2-0 in best-of-three matches. Unlike the previous matches, the invitational final was a best-of-five. Although Tlaxtlan Soothsayer won the first two matches in the hotly contested battle, Aerocrastic ultimately emerged victorious, claiming his third victory in a Tomb Kings vs. Chaos match-up against the former Everchosen Invitational winner. The top three prizes of $750, $500, and $250 went to Aerocrastic, Tlaxtlan Soothsayer, and Indypride, respectively. You can see the full live-stream for the second day semifinals and final below.
