Everything We Know About Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2’s Thinblood Clan

Paradox Interactive and Hardsuit Labs have unveiled the first of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2’s vampire clans. Players who want to live their undead life as the equivalent of a vampire street urchin can play as Thinbloods. Despite being weaker than fully-fledged vampires, Thinbloods will have their own unique sub-disciplines, as Paradox recently explained.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Thinblood details

Bloodlines 2’s official website doesn’t do the best job in explaining how Thinbloods operate in terms of gameplay. Thinbloods are just one of several clans featured in the game, but they’re the only clan we currently know about. Also, it sounds like all players will automatically start the game as a Thinblood. They’ll then have the option of joining other clans later on.

As a Thinblood, the player is basically seen as a second-class citizen in vampire society. According to Bloodlines 2 lore, most Thinbloods live short, unimpressive lives and are seen as disposable by the Masquerade. However, Thinbloods who can prove themselves are capable of rising in the ranks, albeit slowly.

When it comes to gameplay, Thinblood players can choose from three distinct sub-disciplines. Each of these sub-disciplines grants a series of unique powers which fit in line with the typical vampire archetypes. The three sub-disciplines are as follows:

  • Chiropteran – A strong affinity for bats allows you to glide short distances and summon a bat swarm to attack your foes.
  • Mentalism – You can telekinetically pull objects towards you and levitate living targets off the ground.
  • Nebulation – Manipulate mist to enhance your own stealth capabilities or temporarily blind/incapacitate enemies.

Paradox will unveil more Bloodlines 2 clans (and their associated powers) over time. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is currently scheduled to launch for PC and consoles in 2020. The sequel was originally teased using a clever ARG called Tender. For more RPG news, be sure to check out Fallout 76’s recently unveiled Appalachia Showcase.
