Evil Dead’s Ash Williams is Coming to Dead by Daylight

After a few leaks and teases, Behavior Interactive has made it official: Ash Williams is coming to Dead by Daylight. The iconic blowhard demon hunter will arrive in early April alongside the Amazon GameOn Tournament Organizer extension. Dead by Daylight’s version of Ash will also naturally be voiced by none other than Bruce Campbell.

Dead by Daylight Ash Williams DLC

Bruce Campbell first played Ash Williams in the Sam Raimi-directed Evil Dead trilogy. Roughly 30 years later, Campbell reprised the role in the hit STARZ series Ash vs. Evil Dead. The version of Williams appearing in Dead by Daylight will be the older Ash vs. Evil Dead incarnation. Eagle-eyed fans can spot his shotgun holster and the metallic hand he gained in the film Army of Darkness.

According to a press release from Behavior Interactive, the Ash Williams DLC will launch on Tuesday, April 2. As of this writing the DLC doesn’t have a price point, but it will simultaneously launch on PC and consoles. Ash will naturally have his own character-specific perks, though Behavior is keeping them under wraps for now. Those who are attending this weekend’s PAX East convention in Boston, though, can play as Ash by visiting Behavior’s booth.

Along with the announcement Behavior also released the below teaser trailer for Ash Williams. The trailer is light on gameplay but it does have plenty of Bruce Campbell snark to make up for it.

Amazon GameOn Support

In the same press release Behavior announced a partnership with Amazon which enables the GameOn extension for Dead by Daylight. Using the extension, streamers and content creators can quickly and easily set up casual tournaments within the game client. Thanks to the extension’s Twitch integration, users can also set up special Twitch challenges to further engage fans. The Ash Williams DLC is just the latest in a long line of Dead by Daylight content updates. Licensing deals have also added in iconic killers like Freddy Krueger and Michael Meyers. Plus, Behavior has supplemented the licensed stuff with its own original creations like the recent Demise of the Faithful update. Meanwhile, Dead by Daylight rival Friday the 13th: The Game is also coming to Nintendo Switch this spring.
