Next Fallout 76 Patch Delayed by Two Days on Consoles

Just a few days ago, Bethesda announced another Fallout 76 patch to come later this month. It will be the third major Fallout 76 patch to launch in December, and may not be the last. The most recent went live on the 4th, and the next are due to to launch on the 11th and the 18th. Or at least they were. The patch due on the 11th has been pushed back by a couple of days, but only on console.

Bethesda Delays the Latest Fallout 76 Patch by Two Days on Consoles

“We are adjusting our patch schedule for next week’s Fallout 76 update,” explains Bethesda; “The update will roll out for PC players on Tuesday and console players on Thursday. This is to allow further testing on consoles, where we can’t hotfix unintended issues as quickly as we can on PC.”

As such, PC players can expect to see the Fallout 76 patch launch as expected on the 11th; this coming Tuesday. It’s currently unknown how large the patch will be. The first few Fallout 76 patches were massive, far exceeding the original game’s size in total. However, the update on the 4th was only just over 3 GB, and Bethesda has said that fans should expect smaller download sizes going forward. Hopefully it will be a relatively quick download. Console users, on the other hand, will need to wait until Thursday the 13th before the patch comes to them.

Bethesda Delays Next Fallout 76 Patch by Two Days on Console

While console players may be unhappy about the delay, it’s probably for the best. It would only make matters worse if Bethesda released a patch which caused as many problems as it solved. Most players would likely agree that they’d rather Bethesda take the necessary time to fix things properly rather than rushing patches out as fast as possible. Although the studio has released a lot of major updates since the game’s release, less than a month ago, they have managed to address a lot of the game’s biggest bugs and imbalances. There are definitely still problems for the studio to address, but at least Bethesda seems determined to address them rather than merely abandon the game as a lost cause.
