Fallout 76 Update Brings a New Faction and a Whole Lot More

Earlier today, Bethesda launched the latest Fallout 76 update, which may well prove to be the largest single content pack since the start of Wild Appalachia. Accompanied by Patch 9, the update includes a new faction, a new backpack system, player vending, legendary exchange machines, and even more! The update is an 8 GB download on consoles, but only 3.5 GB on PC.

What’s Included in Today’s Fallout 76 Update?

The headline feature of today’s new Fallout 76 update is ‘Ever Upwards!‘; a new line of story quests which introduces the Pioneer Scouts, a brand-new in-game faction. Through the course of this quest-line, players will be able to get their first backpack, which is a new item with its own mechanics and upgrade system. Players looking to start the Pioneer Scouts quests should look for faction posters at the various train stations. However, if you don’t want to search around for one, you can claim one of these posters in the Atomic Shop for free until the 9th of June. You can then put it up in your C.A.M.P. and use it to start the first quest.

Fallout 76 Update Adds Pioneer Scouts Faction

Additionally, the new update adds a much-requested feature; player vending. This is something which fans have been hoping for since before the game’s release. While there is an existing trading system, this is a much more robust set of vending mechanics. Players will now be able to set up vending machines in their C.A.M.P. and stock them with wares. Doing so will advertise their location and inventory to other players in your game.

Another interesting addition is the Legendary Exchange Machines, which can be found at the train stations. These will be useful for when the Purveyor arrives on the 16th of May. This new merchant specialises in Legendary items, but she won’t accept Caps. Instead, you can buy her wares with ‘Scrip,’ which you can gain by putting any Legendary items you don’t need into the Legendary Exchange Machines. Finally, the new update also adds C.A.M.P. protections and a host of weapon tweaks and other balancing changes and bug-fixes. Check out the full patch notes for all the details!
