Far Cry 5 Player Recreates Ready Player One with In-Game Map Creator

Far Cry 5’s Arcade Map Editor is already proving to be a versatile set of tools. Not days after one dedicated gamer recreated the island from ‘Lost,’ with the editor, somebody else has revealed another impressive creation. This time, they took the film Ready Player One as inspiration.

The Stacks

The gamer responsible for this feat is Reddit user cWigginsNYC. The map which they have created is themed around the film’s “Stacks.” This slum-style housing is the home of protagonist Wade Owen Watt’s in the physical world of Ready Player One. Quickly made iconic by their appearance in the film’s promotional material; the Stacks are instantly recognizable for their precarious scaffold-like construction. cWigginsNYC’s recreation is particularly faithful to their film portrayal.

For those who are unfamiliar, the map is for Far Cry 5’s Arcade mode. A new addition to the series, the Arcade mode allows players to play online in maps outside of Hope County. The mode features solo play, as well as private and public online matches for up to 12 players. It also includes a detailed Map Editor, which many gamers are already putting to impressive use. cWigginsNYC’s work echoes that of YouTuber Un-Break-Able, the person responsible for the Lost island map. The Arcade Map Editor includes thousands of in-game assets from Ubisoft’s different games. Altogether, it puts a wealth of tools in the hands of enterprising map-builders.

No doubt as time goes by, gamers will continue finding new projects to realise through Far Cry’s new map editor. Other games with map editors have sometimes resulted in highly impressive content being produced by fans; the Halo titles and GTA V, for example, though there have been many more. cWigginsNYC’s map is currently available for download in Far Cry 5’s Arcade Mode if anybody wishes to see it for themselves. The map is entitled “The STAX.”
