Far Cry 6’s New Release Date May Have Been Leaked

Late last year, Ubisoft announced their decision to delay the release of Far Cry 6. The upcoming game was due to launch on the 18th of February, 2021. However, in an official statement, the company explained that the game needed more time before it would be ready. Now, however, the game’s new release date may have been leaked.

Did the New Far Cry 6 Release Date Leak?

In this case, the leak comes from a Belgian retailer site, Proxis, which recently listed a new Far Cry 6 release date. According to Proxis’ store page, this date is April 30, 2021. Notably, this isn’t a one-off listing; the date appears on all separate versions of Far Cry 6 which are available on the website. Of course, retail leaks of this sort are nothing new, and they don’t have a proven track record of reliability. Sometimes they are right, but sometimes they’re just a placeholder or a date input in error. As such, fans should take this with a grain of salt.

New Far Cry 6 Release Date Leaked 2

Ubisoft itself have not issued any official statements to update the game’s release date since the delay in November. However, it should be noted that the April 30 date does fall within the window in which Far Cry 6 is expected to release. In a post-report earnings call shortly after the November statement, Ubisoft clarified that Far Cry 6 should launch at some point in the first half of fiscal year 2021. That period begins on the 1st of April and ends on the 30th of September. An April 30 release date is certainly conceivable.

Of course, fans will have to wait for more concrete information before they can know for sure. No doubt Ubisoft will announce the new official release date at some stage. Indeed, if April 30 is indeed correct, then that announcement may come relatively soon. Given that the delay was announced around four months before release, and COVID was the sole reason cited for the delay, it’s possible that it will only be a short delay. (Rather than launching towards the end of the first half of fiscal year 2021.)
